CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION Journal of Rural Economics, Special Issue (Nihon Nogyo Keizai Gakkai Ronbun-shu)

Att’n.: This is the criteria for a referee to review a manuscript submitted to the Journal of Rural Economics, Special Issue (Nihon Nogyo Keizai Gakkai Ronbun-shu 2014). Each referee is expected to refer to this once he/she agrees to become a referee of JJRE. This is revised as of March 28, 2014.
Recommendations by Referees
A referee has to choose one out of the four recommendation categories.
A. Accept as it is.
B. Request minor revisions (but no more reviewer’s checking)
C. Request major revisions (reviewer’s judgment suspended)
D. Reject.

A reviewer has to make his/her recommendation for the manuscript based on the evaluations in the items below.

1) The evaluation is to be done for the two categories: “Conditions for Revisions” and “Conditions for Acceptance”.

「Conditions for Revisions」
2) Only manuscripts evaluated ‘3’ or better in the Evaluation items from No. 1 through No.8 are allowed to revise( either B or C in the Recommendation) while manuscripts evaluated ‘2’ or less are not allowed for revision, i.e., rejected: D in the Recommendations.

3) To be accepted, revised manuscripts must be evaluated ‘4’ in every Evaluation item from No.1 through No. 13, both “Conditions for Revisions” and “Conditions for Acceptance”.

Manuscripts must have an evaluation ‘3’ or ‘4’ to be allowed for revision.
A reviewer must provide specific reasons for evaluation ‘3’ or less.
